Our food tour with Luca was one of the highlights of our time in Rome. It was such an enjoyable way to connect with the city’s incredible food culture while exploring neighborhoods we never would have found on our own. Luca was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel welcome from the start. His passion for Rome and its cuisine was contagious, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. We had the most fascinating and delicious Testaccio walking tour with our guide Gabi who is so passionate about this area of Rome and the authentic Roman food that can be experienced here.  He showed us a part of Roman food history that we were complete unaware of and amongst other places we visited the local market and tried many wonderful foods and even learned some great cooking tips.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in Italian food or history of this extraordinary city.

Review for “Off the Beaten Track Roman Tour” with Gabby – October 10th

We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our Roman walking tour with Gabby on Friday, October 10th. The tour ran from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, and we met Gabby in the bustling Campo de’ Fiori market. From the moment we started, Gabby was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

We began with a tasting of aged balsamic vinegars and a shot of limoncello, learning all about the vinegars’ history. After that, we wandered through the side streets and visited the beautiful Santa Maria in Trastevere church, located in a square with a historic fountain in front. There was a wedding taking place, which made the moment even more special. We took time to say a prayer, light candles, and soak in the atmosphere.

Gabby also told us about the local fountains and street names, and we filled our bottles with fresh fountain water like true Romans.

We then visited Biscottificio Artigiano Innocenti in Trastevere, a family-run biscuit shop where we tasted delicious cookies. After that, we enjoyed coffee and ice cream at the iconic *Bar San Calisto* . Finally, we ended at the Nuovo Mercato di Testaccio for a lovely lunch.

The entire three-hour tour was fantastic. Gabby was witty, charming, and incredibly knowledgeable. We’d give him a 4.5 out of 5 only because we wished we could have spent even more time with him! Highly recommend this “Off the Beaten Track Roman Tour” for a truly memorable experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Walking Food Tour Experience!

This walking food tour was absolutely incredible from start to finish! Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and full of fun stories about the city’s history and culture. Every stop along the way offered something delicious and unique — from local street bites to hidden-gem restaurants we never would have found on our own.

I loved how the tour combined great food with a bit of sightseeing and local insight — it felt like we were eating our way through the heart of the city. The portions were generous, and the pacing was perfect so we never felt rushed.

If you love food, culture, and exploring new neighborhoods on foot, this experience is a must-do. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting or even locals looking for something new. I’d take this tour again in a heartbeat!
